Training Contracts

Lowless & Lowless Solicitors and Lowless Commercial Solicitors have a long history of providing training opportunities and regularly recruit graduates for training contracts.

The Training Contract

The training contract normally takes place over a 2 year period, during which time the trainee is able to spend 6 – 9 months gaining experience in 3 – 4 areas of work in the Departments listed below:

·        Commercial
·        Personal Injury
·        Private Client
·        Residential Property
·        Family
·        Crime

Trainees are expected to be able to work from any of our offices across Pembrokeshire during the duration of the Training Contract. The trainee will work closely with a partner or qualified solicitor in each seat.   The aim is to get trainees working flexibly at an early stage whilst still maintaining a supportive level of supervision.

We will normally take on 1 – 2 trainees each year, commencing in early September.

The first trainee will be selected from both internal and external candidates as part of an interview process that will run each year in June/July.   Applications should be received by 31 May of the year preceding the year in which the Training Contract is sought.    All applications will be acknowledged in writing soon after the closing date for receipt of applications.   Candidates which have been unsuccessful at this stage may be offered an alternative position within the firm in a support/paralegal role with no assurances of a training contract being offered.

The second trainee will be selected primarily from the internal pool of candidates and will be chosen to meet a specific business requirement.

Trainee Vacancies

The next vacancy will arise in September 2011.   Trainees are paid in line with the Law Society’s recommended salary and we are interested in attracting applicants who have secured a 2:1 or above in their first degree and can demonstrate a clear interest in particular areas of law.

Applications for 2010 have now closed.

All applications should be by letter of application and a current CV and should be addressed to Gayle Butland, HR Manager, Shaftesbury House, Main Street, Pembroke SA71 4HJ
